There are reviews about this beautiful music player, Amberol. The name itself is funny for me. In my mother language --Javanese, ambrol means collapse. But I want to talk about how good this app, like people say.
Installation
Firstly, unfortunately, there is only one way to install Amberol: Through flatpak. You can download the flatpak from this page, and then install using this simple command:
flatpak install io.bassi.Amberol.flatpakref
Performance
Despite being hugely bloated, I can't really complaint about flatpak's performance. It runs as fast as native deb package.
Appearance & Features
I have to agree, Amberol is gorgeous. The default view is minimalistic, simple, modern and elegant. When I maximized the window, there is playlist menu at the left, just like any other music players.
KDE Compability
Why do I have to mention this? Because I'm a happy satisfied KDE user. I install Amberol on my Kubuntu desktop, and it runs seamlessly without any single issue.
Conclusion
I can't complaint this app, this is wonderful. Really. The only drawback is, there is no other installation method. Flatpaks are unacceptably bloated. For example, the Amberol package itself are only 2,0 MB. But the GNOME dependecies are about 500 MB. What a madness! We know, SSD are now a lot cheaper, but we have to save resource anyway. You can see the installation log here.
I hope, someday, the developer would also deliver Amberol in other installation method. Like, you know, traditional DEB and RPM. Because they're smaller, more efficient, and reliable.
