Ubuntu 26.04 Failed to Boot: boot micmute setting an led's brightness failed (-5)

I've been using Ubuntu 26.04 daily build on my Dell 3585 and there is a bug causes my machine fail to boot. The system stuck at boot session with this following error message: boot micmute setting an led's brightness failed (-5) I've updated the system and sadly, the bug hasn't been solved. Luckily, I've found a quite simple solution from internet. sudo nano /etc/default/grub Add  "module_blacklist=dell_laptop" parameter to  the default grub parameter: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash module_blacklist=dell_laptop" Save the file, update grub: sudo update-grub Last, reboot your system.

KDE Display Brightness Control Not Working on OpenMandriva

I am currently using OpenMandriva Lx ROME and I love it. It boots and loads really fast on my AMD Ryzen laptop. Unfortunately, KDE's brightness control is not working and I have to use xrandr to control the brightness manually. The Simple Solution After reading random forums about this not-really-uncommon issue, I've successfully solved the issue by these following simple steps: Using your favourite text editor, edit /etc/default/grub In GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT remove acpi_backlight=vendor then, add amdgpu.backlight=0 Update grub: sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg Reboot the system. Now, the KDE's brightness control should work properly.

Unfortunately, Ubuntu has decided to switch to Snap to install Firefox in its official repository, and many users aren't happy with that decision. Many users then choose to find a third party repository, and or download the official Firefox binary from the official Mozilla Firefox website. However, you might find an error message when trying to run Firefox binary. You might find this following error message XPCOMGlueLoas error for file libxul.so . The Simple Solution Libxul.so exists in Mozilla Firefox folder, but it fails to load because there is a missing dependency in your Linux system: libdbus-glib-1-2. Fixing Error Installing App on Termux

Termux is a cool terminal emulator that make it possible to run Linux environment on any Android device. However, when the first time you attempt to install an app by using pkg install command, you might find an error something like this: Metadata integrity can't be verified, repository is disabled now. The error is caused by the default Termux repo isn't accessed through your connection (that what I believe). Here is the simple workaround to fix the issue: Execute this following command: termux-change-repo There will be an option to change the termux repo. Tap OK on main repository, and select different repository available. In my case, I changed to the second repository (AlbatrHosted) and worked on my device. Old Release Ubuntu Repository

There are a lot of great Linux distributions with their own special purposes and niche. But I can't deny that Ubuntu is special because it's the first distro I have managed quite well. One of the best thing about Ubuntu is the support for their older, EOL repository. With the current technology called AppImage, you could safely build and run an old app, fetched from Ubuntu old release repository. Here are the Ubuntu's old-release repository you could use: deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ CODENAME main restricted universe multiverse deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ CODENAME-updates main restricted universe multiverse deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ CODENAME-security main restricted universe multiverse Replace CODENAME with the Ubuntu version you desire to use. How To Disable Apport in Ubuntu 14.04 / 14.10 / 15.04 Forever

Apport is a great apps in order to report any crashed app occurred in our Ubuntu system to the developers (theoretically). But just like any "notification" apps, this tool mostly go too far and become captious and madly annoying. It seems the apps will be awoken every time there is an app got a tinny, microscopic malfunction. And so, how to get rid of Apport so you can be as productive as usual ? If you are using Ubuntu 12.04, you just can easily remove the apps by command sudo apt-get remove apport . But if you are using Ubuntu 14.04 and higher, removing apport packages will break your entire system. Therefore, the only way to shut the apport up in Ubuntu 14.04 (and higher) is by delete the executable file.  Command : sudo rm /usr/share/apport/apport-gtk Reboot the system, and now apport gone for-ever. Goodbye Apport. Sayonara .
