Berkarya Untuk Nilai Yang Lebih Tinggi : Menulis Arab di Linux

Alhamdulillah, kemarin salah satu rekan saya yang dari pesantren minta di instalasikan Linux di Netbook miliknya. Alasan klasik, capek dengan Windows yang selalu lambat dan crash karena virus. Semua sih oke-oke saja, kecuali satu hal, bagaimana cara menggunakan keyboard arab di desktop Linux?

Waduh! Saya pun belum pernah pakai. Maklum lah, saya sendiri bisa di bilang tidak punya kemampuan menulis arab secara aktif. Hanya bisa membaca saja.

Cari di cari, ternyata sangat mudah. Untuk meng-enable Arabic Keyboard, kita tinggal masuk ke menu Gnome di 'System>Preferences>Keyboard'. Dari jendela seting keyboard, secara default seting keyboard adalah US English. Untuk menambahnya kita tinggal memilih button 'Add'. Setelah itu akan muncul kotak dialog 'Choose a Layout', dan pada bagian Layouts, cari pilihan 'Arabic' dan selanjutnya tekan 'Add'.

Terakhir, sekarang ada dua pilihan layout keyboard, US English dan Arabic. Untuk mengggunakan Arabic, kita tinggal memilih Arabic. Selanjutnya tentu kita masuk ke OpenOffice.org, dan sekarang kita bisa menulis Arab dengan nyaman di dekstop Linux! Untuk menggunakan kembali layout menulis latin, kita tinggal kembali ke menu 'System>Preferences>Keyboard' dan pilih layout ke US English.

Download, Install and Play Angry Birds Rio In Ubuntu/Debian Linux

Angry Birds Rio is a spin-off of the new-legendary game Angry Birds. This plot is specially taken from popular animation film Rio, an adventure of a pet Blue macaw bird from US in Brazilian jungle. Based on that successful film, there are some game developers created a spin-off for Angry Birds game called Angry Birds Rio. The good news about this is, there is already a flash version of this game so we could play it in Linux desktop easily using flashplayer (standalone player, or by Internet Browser with flashplayer plugin). And just like what I've done before in Angry Animals game, I've packed this game too into Debian package so we could install it with ease.
