REVIEW APLIKASI MENARIK : KCHMVIEWER

Beberapa saat yang lalu, saya mendapat aplikasi menarik yaitu Al Quran Digital, tapi versi windows. Tanpa bingung, saya langsung instal aplikasi tersebut di linux dengan wine. Setalah berhasil, saya coba jalankan dengan wine, dan loh!, ternyata tidak mau jalan. Usut punya usut, ternyata file utamanya bukan windows executable, tapi file windows dengan ekstensi .chm. Hmm, saya bingung lagi, dan akhirnya tempat peraduan saya adalah google, dan dari googling tersebut, saya mendapat referensi, ada dua aplikasi linux yang mampu membaca file chm, yaitu xchm dan kchmviewer. Tidak ada perbedaan jauh kecuali kchmviewer dibuat untuk KDE, dan kedua aplikasi tersebut bekerja dengan pustaka yang sama, yaitu libchm.

Setelah saya instal, ternyata memang luar biasa sekali, file windows help chm, berhasil dibuka dengan sangat lancar, dan saya pun bisa menikmati paket Al Quran Digital versi windows dengan lancar. Agar lebih menarik, saya tambahkan Al Quran Digital tersebut ke daftar Kmenu dengan kmenuedit. Perintah command-nya adalah kchmviewer ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Al\ Quran\ Digital/Al\ Quran\ Digital.chm. Namun sayangnya, saat saya mencoba menambahnya di gnome menu dengan editor menu alacarte, menu tambahan saya itu tidak bisa dijalankan langsung. Saya pun bingung, karena saya memang tidak terlalu nyaman dengan behaviour Gnome yang membutuhkan lebih banyak manualisasi.

Howto Connect To Windows Share Network (Connect To Server) Easily in PCManFM

In Nautilus 3.4, Nemo, or Caja, there is a very useful menu called "Connect to Server". This menu allow us to connect to a Windows Share network via Samba. If you are using another desktop environment such as LXDE, there aren't such menu, and we need to install third party tool called Gigolo . But apparently, PCManFM (the default file manager of LXDE) already has such function. We could connect to a Windows Share network in PCManFM easily. Here are the simple steps : 1. Open PCManFM and go to adress bar, and type this command : smb://username@server/folder example : smb://staff@192.168.1.69/document then press Enter 2. Once you will be asked to input the Windows Share Network password (if exists), select Remember Forever option. 3. You are connected to Windows Share Network ;)
