Apport is a great apps in order to report any crashed app occurred in our Ubuntu system to the developers (theoretically). But just like any "notification" apps, this tool mostly go too far and become captious and madly annoying. It seems the apps will be awoken every time there is an app got a tinny, microscopic malfunction. And so, how to get rid of Apport so you can be as productive as usual ? If you are using Ubuntu 12.04, you just can easily remove the apps by command sudo apt-get remove apport . But if you are using Ubuntu 14.04 and higher, removing apport packages will break your entire system. Therefore, the only way to shut the apport up in Ubuntu 14.04 (and higher) is by delete the executable file. Command : sudo rm /usr/share/apport/apport-gtk Reboot the system, and now apport gone for-ever. Goodbye Apport. Sayonara .
